Speech Recognition-Floor Broker Trading System – New York Stock Exchange: Mr. Swanson was the project lead on a broker-based floor trading system using speech recognition for the entering of trades made by specialists on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. The trading system was developed using Nuance Communications speech products and telephony links to a client sever recognition system.

Internet Voice Portal - Voice Network Content Channels: Mr. Swanson lead a team building a “portal” with three types of content channels integrating mobile use of location-specific content, real-time news, and financial information. The portal provided natural language interface to large-volume data publishing. The voice enabled Internet site used Nuance Communications Voyager.

Management Audit/Evaluation: Participated in the post-project evaluation of strategic planning and management performance for construction of the $10 billion Trans-Alaska Pipeline. Performed management analysis for the Interstate Commerce Commission in their determination of an allowable pipeline tariff rate. Evaluation included review and analysis of the management systems required to plan, schedule, and construct the pipeline, roads, and construction camps.

Interactive Corporate Sizing Model – Bell Operating Company: Responsible for developing interactive models to support the sales center consolidation over a seven state area for an RBOC (Regional Bell Operating Company). The model provided the 5-year quarterly analysis of personnel costs, real estate costs, relocation and training expense and technology enhancements. By specifying a percentage change in headcount on a quarterly basis, the model would calculate the discounted and cumulative cash flow and payback period. Variables included the selection of sites to close or open, span of control for management costs, and the intensity of transfers and new hires. The model was used for the rightsizing of the RBOC's consumer sales centers.

Grant Management Information System: Responsible for the feasibility analysis, requirements, and design of a conceptual model information system to be used by State Alcoholism Authorities to manage and control all alcoholism treatment related funds expended within the states. Projects included the development of the core data elements required by the federal agencies to monitor all state funds expended, controls, and implementation plans for state use. Each design activity required extensive process flow design and documentation to provide accumulation of information available at the required state and federal levels.
